Brooklyn is a small residential neighborhood, which is bounded by the Hollow to the north, Lincoln Park to the east, the South End and Uptown to the south and Mountainside to the west. The neighborhood was originally located on the Delaware and Hudson Canal.  The Brooklyn Bridge pictured aboe, connected Brooklyn to Uptown.

From the summer of 1880 until the summer of 1883, author Stephen Crane lived with his brother and recent law school grad, William, at his house at 21 Brooklyn Street. At this time, Stephen Crane attended school at the Mountain House School in the nearby Mountainside neighborhood.
