Narrowsburg is a small, but vibrant hamlet in the Town of Tusten, along the Delaware River.  Enjoy a meal on the Delaware River at the Heron or the Laundrette, get a coffee at Tusten Cup, explore some of the local shops, browse the great selection at One Grand Books, take one of the town's historic walking tours, visit the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance gallery, or see a performance by the Delaware Valley Opera Company.  Visit the Narrowsburg Chamber of Commerce website for more information.

15 minutes from downtown

Milford is the county seat of Pike County, Pennsylvania, just downstream on the Delaware River.  Get a coffee at Sparkomatic Cafe, enjoy a meal at Bar Louis or 403 at Hotel Fauchere, explore the shops along Broad Street, visit the Columns Museum or Grey Towers, cool off at Milford Beach or hike up to the Milford Knob.

Warwick is a village in the Wallkill Valley, a broad valley between the Shawangunk Ridge and the Highlands.  The area around the Wallkill River, straddling the New York and New Jersey border is called the Black Dirt Region and is known for its production of onions.  Explore the shops of Warwick Village, grab a coffee at Caffe a la Mode or enjoy a pot of tea at Charlotte's Tea Room, visit one of the four wineries around Warwick, watch a movie at Warwick Drive-In, try one of the many restaurants in the village or check out the Grange and visit the peaceful grounds and art of sculptor, painter and author Frederick Franck at Pacem in Terris.

Lafayette, NJ

35 minutes from downtown

Lafayette is a village in Lafayette Township in New Jersey. Get something to eat at the Millside Cafe, explore the shops along Lafayette Road and Meadows Road, go for a walk along the Sussex Branch Trail, browse for a book at Black Dog Books, have tea and dessert at Lorraine's Cake Shoppe and Tea Room and don't forget to check out the shops at the nearby Shoppes At Lafayette.

Sugar Loaf is a hamlet in the Wallkill Valley, near the edge of the Highlands.  It is named for nearby Sugar Loaf Mountain, which was named for its shape.  Explore the shops and galleries in Sugar Loaf, get something to eat at Sugar Loaf Taphouse, see what events are planned at the Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center, or hike on the nearby Highlands Trail in Goosepond Mountain State Park.  Visit the Sugar Loaf website for more information.

Hawley is a borough in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, near Lake Wallenpaupack.  Get a drink at Wallenpaupack Brewing Company, take a scenic train execursion on the Stourbdridge Line, get a meal at Glass, the restaurant at the scenic Ledges Hotel on on Wallenpaupack Creek, get a coffee at the Coccon Coffee House in the historic Hawley Silk Mill, explore the shops on Main Avenue and take a walk on the Hawley River Walk Trail or the Lake Wallenpaupack Trail.  Visit the Downtown Hawley Partnership's website for more information.

Beacon, NY

44 minutes from downtown

Beacon is a city in Dutchess County in the Hudson Highlands on the banks of the Hudson River.  Explore the shops, galleries and restaurants on Main Street.  Check out Dia: Beacon, a modern art museum in an old Nabisco printing plant, walk along the Hudson River, or hike up to Mount Beacon for a view of the city and the river.

Mountain Dale, NY

38 minutes from downtown

Mountain Dale is a hamlet in the town of Fallsburg in the Catskills. Explore its shops and galleries, get something to eat at the Dale or Ba & Me, get a coffee at High Voltage Cafe, check out the Sculpture Park, rent bikes from Cinder Track Bicycles or go for a walk on the Fallsburg Rail-Trail.

Lake Mohawk is a neighborhood of Sparta, New Jersey on Lake Mohawk, the headwaters of the Wallkill River.  Explore the shops at White Deer Plaza, enjoy the unique alpine architecture of the town, walk along the Lake Mohawk Boardwalk on the north side of the lake, have a meal at il Porto on Lake Mohawk or get a coffee at nearby Cloveberry.  Visit during the German Christmas Market, pictured here.

Newton, NJ

40 minutes from downtown

Newton is a town in New Jersey in the Kittatinny Valley and the county seat of Sussex.  Visit the historic green and explore the shops on Spring Street, get something to eat at 4Chicks Cafe Chicken & Waffles, Visit the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council gallery, check out an event at the Newton Theatre, or go for a walk on the Sussex Branch Trail.

Ellenville is village in the town of Wawarsing in the Rondout Valley between the Catskill Mountains and the Shawangunk Ridge.  Get a meal on Canal Street,  see a performance at Shadowland Stages, go shopping at the French Corner, or visit Sam's Point and the Ice Caves or Witch's Hole State Forest.  Visit Discover Ellenville's website for more information.
